Lubrizol offers several options for life insurance coverage to provide financial security for you and your family in the event of your death or the death of a covered dependent.   

Company Paid  

Lubrizol provides automatic, company-paid coverage for you in the amount of two times your eligible pay through Securian. You also have the opportunity to opt-down to $50,000 coverage to avoid imputed income. Employees who have salaries less than $25,000 will automatically receive $50,000 in coverage.

How to access this benefit:  Beneficiaries will be invited to take advantage of this program via the app or website during the claims process. They can visit or download the Empathy app and use access code: emp-securian. We encourage you to share this resource with your beneficiaries to better prepare for and process the loss of a loved one.


Supplemental Life Insurance  

You also have the option to choose supplemental life insurance at your cost through Securian. The costs of these coverages are paid through payroll deductions. To enroll, or change your coverage in these plans, please visit the enrollment website:

  • Employee Supplemental.  During annual enrollment, you may choose coverage in the amount of one to eight times your eligible pay up to $2,000,000. During annual enrollment, you can buy up an additional one time without evidence of insurability. The cost for coverage will depend on your age and the amount of coverage you elect.  
  • Spouse/Eligible Domestic Partner. You may elect life insurance coverage for your spouse or eligible domestic partner in $10,000 increments, up to $250,000. The cost will be based on your spouse or eligible domestic partner's age and the amount of coverage you elect.  The amount of spouse/eligible domestic partner supplemental life coverage may never exceed 100% of the combined basic and supplemental life insurance in force for the employee. The Hartford will determine if your domestic partner meets eligibility criteria.
  • Eligible Child. You may elect life insurance coverage for your children and the eligible children of your domestic partner (or up to age 26) in the amount of $5,000 or $10,000 per child.
